College Prep Programs
Beginning in the 7th grade, and continuing through graduation from high school, students are placed on a college track – they participate in campus tours, college assessment programs, SAT preparation courses and college application workshops. These programs include:
College Tours Every fall and spring, high school seniors tour local universities, such as Cal State Fullerton & Long Beach, UC Irvine & Los Angeles, University of Redlands, Concordia College, Chapman University.
SAT Preparation offers in-depth training onsite to help 10th through 12th grade students prepare for the SAT. Students also receive help with their writing to prepare for the new SAT.
College: Making it Happen This year, 43 7th through 9th grade students and their parents attended a workshop at Saint Joseph Ballet presented by The Center for Educational Partnerships, to learn about the current curriculum eligibility requirements for admission to Cal State, U.C., and private universities and colleges.
College 101 High school students and their parents learn realities about the college experience, directly from a panel of local university Admissions Officers.
Personal Statement Writing Workshop A five-week tutorial led by a local university professor helps seniors develop their personal essays for private college applications.
Financial Aid Assistance Every senior applying to a four-year university or college receives individualized attention to complete financial aid application forms accurately and in time for maximum aid awards.
Junior and Senior Retreats Every year SJB junior and senior students attend a special “retreat” to help them identify personal and academic goals. Saint Joseph Ballet academic staff lead sessions on: choosing the right college to meet your needs, making informed financial aid decisions, and living on-campus. Saint Joseph Ballet alumni also attend the retreat to share their experiences of the college application process.
