SUMMER PROGRAM SPONSORSHIPS
Your gift makes their summer possible!

Childhood memories of summertime are vivid because it is a season which represents a break from normal routines and the chance to grow through new adventures. Saint Joseph Ballet’s 375 students are introduced to thrilling new learning opportunities to which they would not typically be exposed. Reading programs, dance intensives, and camp outings all combine to feed into the powerful individual growth seen in Saint Joseph Ballet students. Make a difference in the lives of low-income youth by supporting our summer programs today.

Sponsored Summer Camps

Saint Joseph Ballet offers sponsored summer camping trips for students who rarely, if ever, have seen a world outside the inner-city.  These trips, made possible in part by generous partnerships with these camps, offer students the opportunity to expand their horizons and challenge themselves. Students who start off timid, end their trip craving more experiences out of their comfort zone. Your financial support makes this personal growth, increased self-esteem, and desire to learn more about their world possible.

My Summer
by Maria Elena Ruiz, age 16

This summer I will be attending Kidder Creek Camp in Greenview, CA. It will be peaceful and relaxing, and not at all chaotic. We get to clear our whole week to be with friends and have new experiences. I can’t wait to be sleeping under the stars and riding the white water rapids

Summer Reading Program

The summer "Reading is Fun" program is designed to inspire a life-long love of reading and learning in the youngest of Saint Joseph Ballet students. 30 youth gather twice a week for guided reading and discussion. Students read out loud, play theatrical games, and win prizes for their reading achievement. Students are transformed into passionate readers and enthusiastically return year after year to the program. Generous financial gifts from individuals like you ignite this passion for academic success.

My Summer
by Alex Perez, age 12

I will be spending my summer in Saint Joseph Ballet’s “Reading is Fun” program for the second time. We read books, talk about them, and also write summaries. Last year, we had a raffle and prizes for the people who were in the program. My favorite books are ones on history. The reading program helped me thoroughly read words and understand them. I look forward to spending the summer with my books.

Dance & Collegiate Mentoring

Saint Joseph Ballet’s dance program is the center of the transformation that we see in our students. When students perform, they learn confidence as a companion to vulnerability, presenting themselves as individuals working toward the whole. They learn the courage it takes to place themselves in the light, willing and wanting to be seen, at the risk of judgment. In their futures, whether they dance or not, they will take that risk again – this time from a place of strength and experience. Your financial gift allows this proven and successful formula to continue.

My Summer
by Jessica Camacho, age 17

This summer, I plan to spend a lot of time with my family and friends, since I will be moving away at the end of August to attend Wellesley College on full scholarship. The art of dance opens your eyes to seeing the beauty in everything we do – the day to day experiences – the simple things. It is a peaceful and powerful place to be. My parents are telling the whole world about my scholarship to Wellesley. Without the encouragement of the Saint Joseph Ballet staff and my fellow students, I may not have had the confidence and support to reach my full potential.
